Consultancy Service in Scientific equipments

In the process of equipment life cycle, more specifically, selection, acquisition, utilization and disposal, there are visible and many problems, gaps, and challenges. NMIE work to support end user organizations to focus and effectively perform their own activities and achieve results. In addition to technical facilities, consultancy service is provided through SETCD on selection, acquisition, utilization or disposal of scientific equipment.

The requirements for accessing our consultancy service are making a service request in writing and payment of service fee at the end.

Aiming at enhancing accessibility of services and building national capability of effective utilization (installation, performance testing, maintenance and repair, and disposal) of scientific equipment, direct technical support will be provided for those user-institutions wishing to establish in-house technical service unit based on mutual agreement.

Existing Problems and Solutions on Scientific Equipment

If there is a gap in consciously selecting, procuring, and utilizing scientific equipment to achieve results, then it can be easily sensed that there are problems in the process. The problems around scientific equipment are multifaceted and interrelated to selection, acquisition, utilization, disposal or management. However, to alleviate and resolve the problems, the government through the National Metrology Institute has devised the following strategies:

  • Replace foreign technologies through research and reverse-engineering
  • Conduct skill enhancing and practical training programs to build national capabilities that enable effectively utilizing scientific equipment
  • Provide and promote maintenance and related technical services to support institutions to deliver their scientific services uninterruptedly and sustainably
  • Assess appropriateness of new technologies and disseminate information
  • Provide consultancy services to support scientific service providing institutions (end-users) and thereby fill the gaps
