PAQI Policy Council Delegation Conducts Strategic Visit to EMI
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 05 March 2025 (EMI). A high-level delegation from the Pan African Quality Infrastructure (PAQI) Policy Council visited the Ethiopian Metrology Institute (EMI). The delegation comprised senior representatives from PAQI’s constituent bodies: AFRIMETS (Intra-Africa Metrology System), AFSEC (African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission), AFRAC (African Accreditation Cooperation), ARSO (African Organization for Standardization).
During the tour, Dr. Mulugeta Derbew, Director General of EMI, and Mr. Fikreab Markos, Deputy Director General, gave a comprehensive briefing on EMI’s advanced calibration services, technical capabilities, and its pivotal role in strengthening Ethiopia’s quality infrastructure ecosystem.
The visit coincided with a strategic meeting convened by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with the Ethiopian Standards Institute, underscoring PAQI’s commitment to harmonizing continental quality frameworks and fostering trade competitiveness under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
